Setting up fingerprint ID

Step 1: Open Windows Settings

  • Select the gear icon
  • In the Settings window, select "Accounts."
  • In the Accounts section, choose "Sign-in options" from the left sidebar.
  • Scroll down to the "Windows Hello" section. If your device supports fingerprint authentication, you should see an option labeled "Fingerprint" or "Windows Hello Fingerprint" under "Sign-in options."

If you are setting up a Windows device for the first time, you will be asked to setup fingerprint ID during the setup.

Step 2: Enroll your fingerprint

  • Click on "Set up" under the Fingerprint section.
  • You may be prompted to enter your PIN, password, or pattern to verify your identity.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to scan your fingerprint. You'll need to lift and rest your finger on the scanner several times to capture different parts of your fingerprint.

Step 3: Test your fingerprint

  • After setup is complete, you can test your fingerprint by locking your device and then using your fingerprint to unlock it.
